New American fast food chain coming to Tampa area: Cook Out, an American fast food chain from North Carolina, is opening two locations in the Tampa area. Menu items include burgers, bbq sandwiches, chicken nuggets, corn dogs, hushpuppies, milkshakes, and more. The two locations are at 5501 East Fowler Ave. in Temple Terrace and 16215 North Dale Mabry Highway in Carrollwood. No opening date is available at this time. (cltampa.com, wfla.com)
Warren and Lopez faceoff ahead of November election for Hillsborough State Attorney: Suspended Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren and appointed State Attorney Suzy Lopez traded barbs on Friday at the Tiger Bay Club. Warren is running for his old seat that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis forced him from. Warren sued DeSantis and although a judge found that Warren was illegally removed from office, the judges did not restore Warren to office. DeSantis removed Warren from office after Warren signed an abortion pledge, kicking off years of litigation. (wusf.org)
Bill Edwards Foundation hosting BAM! Safety Festival: The BAM! Safety First Festival is coming to the Mahaffey Theater plaza located at 400 1st St S on Tuesday, May 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is presented by the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts. "BAM!" stands for Books, Arts, Music, and is a collaboration between the foundation and St. Petersburg Police Department. (patch.com)
Florida Man arrested after stealing Hillsborough County school bus and driving to South Florida while allegedly intoxicated: A Florida Man allegedly stole a bus from Hillsborough County over the weekend and drove it to South Florida while on an inebriated bender, according to news reports. State troopers eventually caught the suspect. The suspect is now facing a charge of grand theft. (nbcmiami.com)
Dozens arrested this past weekend after brawl at Astro Skate Brandon: A large brawl broke out this past weekend in Brandon at Astro Skate located at 750 W Robertson St. with nearly 400-500 people in attendance. The incident happened on Saturday night. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested 30 juveniles and six adults, according to news reports. (fox13news.com)
