Wayfair opening first brick-and-mortar store in Tampa Bay this weekend: Wayfair is opening its first brick-and-mortar store in Tampa under a brand called Birch Lane. One store will be at International Plaza & Bay Street in Tampa’s Westshore district. There will be food, drinks, giveaways for shoppers. Republican presidential preference primary today in Florida, Democrats cancel presidential primary: The presidential preference primary is today for Republicans in Florida, including in Tampa Bay. Democrats are not participating in the primary and have already awarded President Joe Biden the delegates in the state. A lawsuit to try and force a primary did not succeed. Some cities are having primary elections today and critics warn not having a scheduled primary could suppress votes for local elections from Democrats. 11 cities in Pinellas County are having local elections. Toast names Oxford Exchange on Top 20 brunch spots in America list: Toast, a restaurant point of sale platform, has named Oxford Exchange on Kennedy Blvd. as one of the top 20 brunch spots in the United States. Oxford Exchange came in at no. 19 on the list. Tampa company goes all in on bitcoin mining: Tampa-based LM Funding America is going all in on bitcoin mining. The company started out in HOA lending and has added to its business in recent years. LM Funding owns at least 6,000 bitcoin miners and is planning to acquire more. The centers that host the machines are in Texas and Kentucky due to logistical reasons. (businessobserverfl.com)
Project Dynamo in Tampa focuses efforts on Americans in Haiti amid surge in violence and exodus: Tampa nonprofit Project Dynamo, which works to bring Americans back to the United States during international crises around the world, is working to bring Americans back from Haiti. Haiti is experiencing a surge in gang violence that is causing citizens of Haiti to flee the nation in mass. The organization is increasingly critical of the U.S. State Department on rescue efforts.
