Welcome back to Tampa News Today. I hope you had a great weekend. I’m Carlos Hernandez, your host explaining everything you need to know about what’s happening in Tampa including local news, events, and happenings.
I visited the Festival de Bomba y Plena on the Tampa Riverwalk on Sunday. It was a fun time with live music, plenty of vendors, and food. We need more of these events in Tampa.
Here’s what you need to know about what is happening in town:
Dave’s Hot Chicken giving out free sliders for Drake’s birthday: Freebies are always nice. Florida property insurance spikes whopping 900 percent: Floridians, including those living in Tampa, continue to face an ominous situation with Florida’s home insurance market continue to spiral. The situation has led the Sunshine State to become the top state with people relocating, with 275,666 people fleeing the state in 2022. Happening in town today (Oct. 23):

Native America: In Translation at USF Contemporary Art Museum. (all day)
The Shining (1980) at the Tampa Theatre. (7 p.m.)
Networking at Black Rock Bar & Grill. (7:30 p.m.)
I grabbed lunch last week at Ybor Seoul. It’s a fast-casual Korean spot that also has bubble tea and some other items. It’s nothing too fancy and not quite the same as dining in a Korean restaurant, but still not bad for a lunch option. I enjoyed my spicy chicken and all the sides, especially the pickled cucumbers and jap chae noodles. The food is spicy so keep that in mind if you ask for it. The passionfruit bubble tea I drank was also tasty, but on the sweet side so you might want to ask for less sweetness. It’s located at 1531 E 7th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605.

That’s all the updates for today. See you tomorrow!
