Magnanimous Brewing opens new location: Magnanimous Brewing has opened a new location in Seminole Heights at 6809 N Nebraska Ave., which previously was the location of 7venth Sun Brewing Company. The brewery plans to be open from Wednesdays to Sundays. Guests will find 24 beer taps, arcades and television units, as well as food trucks on select days. (cltampa.com)
USF student found dead on campus residence hall Friday morning, investigation underway: An investigation is underway after a student was found dead at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The death was discovered Friday morning in a residence hall on-campus at 10:20 a.m., according to news reports. Officers attempted unsuccessfully to revive the student when they arrived on the scene. Much-needed South Tampa farmer’s market re-opens after years of closure: The MacDill Fresh Farmers Market has re-opened its doors in South Tampa amid rising demand for local produce and goods. The new market is located on corner of MacDill and Bay View. Although there are plenty of corporate grocery stores in the area, locals want more farmer made products and say there is a lack of local goods in the area. (wtsp.com)
New stingray exhibit opening this spring at ZooTampa in Seminole Heights: ZooTampa in Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood has added a new interactive area called Stingray Shores at ZooTampa. It gives guests the chance to touch and feed stingrays and also get in the water with stingrays. The area opens this spring on March 15. Guests must be 48 inches or taller to participates and children must participate with parental supervision. (thatssotampa.com)
More jaw-dropping insurance increases on the way for Florida homeowners: Two insurance companies in Florida are planning to raise insurance costs on homeowners by over 50 percent. Castle Key Indemnity Company and Amica Mutual Insurance both are proposing rate increases over 50 percent to the state for homeowners. The move would mainly impact condominium owners. The move comes amid record inflation and an increasingly unaffordable housing environment throughout the state. (wfla.com)
