Tampa International Airport puts up Christmas display as travelers descend in Florida: Tampa International Airport (TPA) has put a giant reindeer with lights at the airport in honor of the holiday season. Visitors can grab a photo with the light display in the airport’s Main Terminal. The new display joins “Phoebe,” the new flamingo in the airport and is part of a focus on art at TPA. (wfla.com)
Valrico family featured on Christmas light television show: A Valrico family in east Hillsborough County was featured on ABC's "The Great Christmas Light Fight." The show is available on Hulu. The home belongs to Audra and Rodney Burton at 2014 Sydney Road. Visitors are asked to donate money or pet food and supplies which are donated to local pet rescues. (axios.com)
Bacon & BBQ Festival returns to St. Pete in early 2024: The 2024 Bacon & BBQ Festival will be back at Vinoy Park on Jan. 13 and 14 next year. Vinoy Park is located at 701 Bayshore Dr. NE in St. Petersburg. Guests will enjoy plenty of food options including food trucks, restaurants and more spread throughout the festival. Tampa Improv will now be known as “Funny Bone:” The Tampa Improv is being renamed Funny Bone, according to a news release. The long-running comedy club is located at 1600 E Eighth Ave. in Centro Ybor. It has survived recessions and the pandemic in Tampa. Not much is expected to change besides the name. Pinellas Co. deputy resigns after allegedly allowing hit-and-run suspect to flee traffic stop: A deputy formerly with Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department has resigned from his position after letting a DUI hit-and-run suspect go who police said killed a bicycle rider. The deputy allegedly turned off his body camera and in-car video footage before letting the suspect go. A police report also said the deputy allegedly then provided false information to the police department. (wtsp.com)
