Local TikTok influencers fret about potential U.S. ban: TikTok influencers in Florida are concerned about a potential ban to the platform in Congress. The ban has bipartisan support and support from President Joe Biden. Travis Settineri, also known online as Travis Doodles, uses TikTok for a nonprofit called Worth and Purpose in Polk County and has nearly 2 million followers. (baynews9.com)
Rough Riders’ St. Patrick’s Day parade moving to downtown from Ybor City: The Tampa Rough Riders parade is leaving Ybor City and moving to downtown Tampa on March 16 after decades in the historic district. Organizers for Rough Riders’ St. Patrick’s Day told the Times this has been in the works for years. The parade will be at 5 p.m. on the same day as The River O’ Green Fest and the parade will be family-friendly. (subscription: tampabay.com, free: tampa.gov)
Bucs sign QB Baker Mayfield in $100 million 3-year deal: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Quarterback Baker Mayfield have signed a 3-year deal. The deal is worth $100 million with $50 million guaranteed, according to ESPN. The Bucs have also announced the deal. (fox13news.com, nfl.com)
Huge jellyfish appearing across Florida beaches: Giant jellyfish are appearing on beaches across Florida including in Sanibel. Some jellies are nearly 20 pounds. Experts say it is unusual to see jelly fish that size in Florida. The species has been identified as a mushroom cap jellyfish and are not as big of a threat for stinging as other jellyfish.
