Yard House Water Street plans Dec. 3 opening: Water Street is getting another dining option with this one across the street from Amalie Arena, opening Dec. 3 according to their website after some delays in opening. The news was first reported by Creative Loafing Tampa. The menu at Yard House includes a variety of American food food items inspired by "California roots” including pizza, steaks, seafood, chicken and more. It will no doubt be a popular spot for Lightning fans before hockey games. (cltampa.com, yardhouse.com)
“Air taxi” test flight coming to TPA: Tampa International Airport is hosting the first "air taxi" flight in Florida, in partnership with Volocopter. The test is being held on Thursday, Nov. 2, according to a press release. The test will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and local leaders will attend. (wfla.com)
Debate ensues over nightlife in Ybor City: Former City of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn called for nightlife in the area to be reined in after a shooting over the weekend that left 2 people dead and multiple people injured. Buckhorn’s comments echoed Ybor developer Darryl Shaw who owns a number of properties and developments in Ybor City and wants to move the area away from being a home for bars and nightlife. However, City of Tampa Mayor Jan Castor disagreed with the sentiment and said small businesses are not to blame. There have been a number of new bars and breweries recently opening in Ybor. Fusion sushi now available at NoHo sushi spot: Sushi BRB is is offering food from Chef Justin Fields at 1500 W Cass St. in North Hyde Park. Menu items include bao buns, sushi rolls, and bowls. The menu offers a mixture of Asian and “Floribbean” food. (thatssotampa.com)
Downtown Tampa haunted tours: The historic Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa is offering haunted tours during Halloween. Tours are led by Tampa Theatre Vice President and Director of Community Relations, Jill Witecki. Tours last 90 minutes and are free for Tampa Theatre members and $15 for regular guests. Guests will be able to learn about previous deaths in the building and other spooky stories. The theatre gets into the Halloween spirit every year with film screenings featuring classic horror films. Tonight they are playing Halloween (1978). (fox13news.com)
