Hmong New Year celebration today: Tampa's Hmong community is celebrating "Hmoob Lub Tsiab Peb Caug" or Hmong New Year today, Dec. 16 at R.P. Funding Center at 701 W Lime St., Lakeland, FL 33815. All new Canopy Road cafe location now open in Riverview: Canopy Road Cafe has opened a new location in Riverview at 11220 Sullivan St. The Riverview location will be the first location with a liquor license once approved, according to Creative Loafing. Ruskin teacher joins federal lawsuit over pronoun usage in schools: A teacher from Lennard High School in Ruskin has joined a federal lawsuit to challenge a Florida law requiring the use of pronouns and titles assigned at birth. The law was created as part of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law expansion. The teachers have also filed employment discrimination claims with the U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission. (wfla.com)
