Taste of South Tampa returns this Sunday to Tampa Garden Club: The Taste of South Tampa will return on Sunday, March 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Tampa Garden Club located at 2629 Bayshore Blvd. with over 50 restaurants and vendors joining the event. The annual festival is organized by the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce and is celebrating 18 years of operation. Tickets start at $50 and often sell out so it is recommended to buy them before the event. (thatssotampa.com)
New rooftop bar opening soon at Rocky Point hotel in Tampa: Casa Cami is a new rooftop bar planning to open soon at The CURRENT Hotel in March at 2545 N Rocky Point Dr. The bar will sell Mexican food and cocktails such as margaritas. The new bar will be run by Oxford Commons, which is behind other popular concepts including The Oxford Exchange and The Library St. Pete. Brunch is also planned at the bar. (wfla.com)
Jon Bon Jovi joining the fun for Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg: Rock star Jon Bon Jovi will be featured at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this coming March. He will be at the first two races of the season. The festivities will begin Thursday, March 7, and conclude on Sunday, March 10. There will be a 20th Year Welcome Party as well at the Mahaffey Theater on March 8. General admission tickets start at $25 and are now available online. (fox13news.com, gpstpete.com)
St. Pete Beach officials approve hotel redevelopment despite local opposition: Attempts by residents to stop the redevelopment of Sirata Beach Resort have failed in St. Pete Beach. Officials voted 3-2 to approve a conditional use permit to advance the redevelopment of the hotel. St. Pete Beach Mayor Adrian Petrila was one of the two officials to vote against the permit. Developers threatened to use the Live Local Act signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to bypass officials if they tried to stop the development. (baynews9.com)
Bucs releasing outside linebacker from team: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are releasing outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett, according to ESPN. The Bucs will receive $5 million in salary cap relief after the release. The decision was reportedly difficult for the team to make, but the player acknowledge its a “business” decision. Barrett’s history with the team goes back to 2019. (espn.com)
