Cook Out fast food concept opening across Tampa Bay: Fast food chain Cook Out is opening its first locations in Tampa at 5501 East Fowler Ave. in Temple Terrace and 16215 North Dale Mabry Highway. A location is also planned for St. Petersburg. The Tampa locations will replace former Boston Market locations, according to St. Pete Rising. (stpeterising.com)
Frenchy’s seeking donations after numerous locations damaged and impacted by Hurricane Helene: Frenchy’s, a popular seafood restaurant chain in Clearwater Beach with decades running in Tampa Bay, was damaged by Hurricane Helene with several locations closed. The storm surge from the hurricane brought significant damage and cut off power to the business. Impacted locations include: Frenchy’s Original Cafe; Frenchy’s Saltwater Cafe; Frenchy’s South Beach Cafe; Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill; Frenchy’s Seafood Company; Frenchy’s Oasis Motel; Frenchy’s Off the Hook Gift Shop; Clearwater Beach Paddleboard & Rental Co; North Beach Water Sports; Clear Sky Beachside Cafe and North Beach Wine & Spirits. Donations are being accepted for this interested in helping with the recovery. (wfla.com)
Free laundry centers open for those impacted by Helene in Tampa Bay: Tampa and St. Petersburg are opening free laundry centers for residents impacted by Hurricane Helene. The Tampa center will be at at 5235 South Dale Mabry Highway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 1. The St. Pete locations are at 3803 Haines Road North and 2970 54th Ave. South. (abcactionnews.com)
WUSF News seeking interns for Spring 2025: Local news outlet, WUSF, is now seeking college interns for the Spring 2025 period. All WUSF News internships are paid at $15 an hour. The program will run from early Jan. through early May 2025. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. (wusf.org)
Mema’s Alaskan Tacos opening in Ybor: Mema’s Alaskan Tacos is coming back to Ybor City. The popular restaurant concept shuttered after the 2008 financial crisis. The new location will be at 1903 N19th St., according to Creative Loafing. (carloseats.com, cltampa.com)
