Affordability continues to be a challenge for Tampa Bay residents: A new report from the Tampa Bay Partnership and the University of South Florida shows how affordability continues to be a problem for those living in Tampa Bay, according to a news report from Fox 13. Residents are spending an “average 57 cents on the dollar just on transportation and housing costs alone,” according to the CEO of United Way Suncoast. The average resident now needs to earn at least $80,000 a year just to make ends meet. (fox13news.com)
Hillsborough leaders push for sales tax renewal amid record inflation: Hillsborough County Commissioners are pushing to renew a half-penny sales tax for residents. Voters would need to vote on the measure this November if approved. The Community Investment Tax was previously used to controversially fund Raymond James Stadium after a bitter public fight. Government leaders argue the tax helped fund local projects and services at the tune of $2.6 billion over 30 years. (subscription: tampabay.com, bizjournals.com)
Dunedin Mix food hall now open in Pinellas County: A new food hall has opened in Pinellas County called Dunedin Mix at 990 Broadway in Dunedin. The food hall had its soft opening earlier this week. There are three restaurants open at the moment with more on the way soon. Don’t miss the rotating bar at the venue called Circle 1852. (cltampa.com)
Owner behind La Creperia Café opening new restaurant in St. Pete this month: Crepeway Caffe is opening soon in St. Petersburg at 1572 Central Ave., according to St. Pete Rising. The concept will be run by the same owner behind La Creperia Café in Ybor City. Expect there to be cocktails available. The new concept is expected to open by the end of February. (stpeterising.com)
