Rays bring back home game deals in 2024, tickets on-sale next week: The Tampa Bay Rays are bringing back $10 tickets for every 2024 home game. Tickets go on-sale Thursday, Dec. 7. Tickets will be available via the MLB Ballpark app and at raysbaseball.com at 10 a.m. Rays fans can also participate in an online pre-sale Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. if they visit raysbaseball.com/newsletter to sign up for the Rays Insider newsletter. Florida man charged with making threats to Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office: A 40-year-old Florida man from Hillsborough Co. has been charged with making threats to the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office online. Police said the suspect admitted to making the threats and is charged with written or electronic threat to kill or do bodily injury. The suspect claims he was frustrated with the customer service at the office. (patch.com)
Tampa tree canopy in trouble: Tampa's tree canopy is on the decline and has fallen since 2011. Trees are vital to preventing air pollution, helping with flooding and other important needs for the area. City leaders are planning to plant thousands of trees to help address the issue and are asking the community to get involved. Residents can help by joining the Tremendous Tampa Free Tree Program. New chicken spot opening in Westshore: HCK Hot Chicken, a Virginia-based fast casual restaurant chain in Tampa, is hosting its grand opening celebration on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. It is located in Tampa’s Westshore neighborhood at 3343 S Westshore Blvd. Guests can enjoy deals and giveaways on opening day. Enjoy Christmas theater in Valrico this holiday season: The Village Players of Valrico is featuring "The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge" this December in honor of the holiday season. It is a sequel to sequel to Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” Performances will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, 8 and 15, and on Saturday, Dec. 9 and 16 at 8 p.m. Matinees will be offered on Sunday, Dec. 3, 10 and 17 at 3 p.m. Tickets are now available for purchase online.
