TGH renames children’s hospital after major donation from Pam and Les Muma: Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and the Tampa General Hospital Foundation announced recently that the children's hospital will be renamed "Muma Children's Hospital at TGH" after a significant donation from Pam and Les Muma. "There are no limits to the generosity of Pam and Les Muma. Their contribution to Tampa General in support of the Children's Hospital will have a meaningful and lasting impact across the state, most especially on the families and children of our community," said John Couris, president and CEO of Tampa General Hospital. Thousands of gallons of diesel fuel spilled into Hillsborough Bay, shrimp boat captain missing: A shrimp boat has sank into Hillsborough Bay and spilled thousands of gallons of diesel fuel into the water, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The sinking is being treated as a hazardous materials incident. Police are searching for the missing captain of the ship, who is identified as Curtis Lee Cowling. Anyone with information about the incident or captain is asked to contact Tampa Police. (tampabay.com, tampa.gov)
Frontier Airlines adds Hartford route to Tampa International Airport: Frontier Airlines is launching flights between Tampa (Tampa International Airport) and Hartford, Connecticut (Bradley International Airport) starting on Mar. 7. Flights are starting at $49 for one-way tickets and are now available online. The airlines is also expanding other routes. (wfla.com)
University area to get new doughnut shop in early 2024: Dapper Doughnuts is coming to Tampa in January 2024 at 2720 E Fowler Ave Ste 235.
