South Florida destroys Syracuse football in 45-0 win at Boca Bowl: South Florida football demolished Syracuse in a 45-0 win on Thursday night at the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. It was the first bowl game for the University of South Florida football team since 2018. The win is an important milestone for head coach Alex Golesh. (espn.com, baynews9.com)
Ybor City bar suffers defeat on expanded liquor license after shooting: An expanded alcohol license for Southern Belle - Country Bar & Grill in Ybor City was denied by Tampa City Council after pushback from residents after the recent Halloween weekend shooting and efforts by some groups to scale back nightlife in the area. The denial could be the first in many changes coming to the district after the city council also moved forward a citywide curfew for minors. (tampabay.com)
Tampa foodie hotel from Bern’s Steak House celebrates 10 years: Celebrate a decade of The Epicurean Hotel on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The party will include full bars, specialty cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment from Jariah Higgins. Tickets are now available to the soiree online and are limited. Mainsail Lodging & Development is a Tampa-based hospitality company founded in 1999 by Joe Collier and runs the property. Christmas holiday travel rush hits Tampa International: The busy Christmas rush has hit Tampa International Airport (TPA). U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is reminding travelers that they have rights if their flights are canceled after a messy holiday season in 2022 that led to millions in fines for airlines. The number of people flying this holiday season is expected to rise by 6.5 percent. (abcactionnews.com)
Mexican restaurant concept plans January 2024 opening in South Tampa: Streetlight Taco is coming to South Tampa in early 2024 after many delay at 4004 Henderson Blvd. The concept is run by owner and Executive Chef Michael Brannock.
