Bucs help fight affordable housing crisis with Habitat for Humanity: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have joined with Habitat for Humanity to help address the affordable housing crisis plaguing the Tampa Bay area. Over 12 Bucs players joined with other team staff to help work on homes under construction and even helped fund two of the homes that will eventually be given to those who need it the most. Funding for Habitat for Humanity is part of the Bucs Social Justice Initiative. (abactionnews.com)
Perez selected as school board chairperson: Hillsborough County School Board has elected Karen Perez as chairperson of the board. Perez represents District 6 in the county. She was originally elected in 2018 to the Hillsborough County School Board. Jessica Vaughn from District 3 was elected vice chairperson. (tampabay.com)
Miracle Bar at Strandhill coming Nov. 24: Mark the kickoff to the holidays in Tampa Heights on Friday, Nov. 24 with Miracle Bar at Strandhill. This year’s pop-up festivities in Tampa will be at Strandhill Public next to Armature Works and features Christmas-themed cocktails and decor. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Seva Foundation, an international nonprofit known for preventing and treating blindness and other visual impairments. African/Caribbean concept now open in Seminole Heights: There is new restaurant in Seminole Heights offering African and Caribbean cuisine called Da' Shrine. The restaurant is located at 5137 N Florida Ave. Da’ Shrine offers breakfast and brunch as well as dinner options including whole red snapper, spicy spaghetti, chicken and waffles, stew oxtail and more. Master developer sought for land near Tampa MOSI: Hillsborough County Commission is seeking a master developer for 67 acres of land near the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) across from the University of South Florida, Tampa campus. The land is part of the Uptown Innovation District, which aims to change and improve the image of the area. The county would like proposals with plans to help stimulate the economy and businesses and schools nearby. (patch.com)

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District) Governing Board voted Tuesday, Nov. 14, to declare a Modified Phase I Water Shortage due to “on-going dry conditions throughout the region and increasing water supply concerns.” Counties impacted include Citrus, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota and Sumter counties as well as a few other areas.
