Manga and anime boba shop expands to second location in Tampa Bay: Manga Tea, an anime-themed bubble tea shop, is opening a second location in Hudson at 8814 SR 52. No official opening date has been announced at this time. The other location is at 5330 Ehrlich Road Suite 133 in Tampa. (thatsotampa.com)
Sinkhole opens in front of Polk County home in Highland City: A 60 feet deep and 15 feet wide sinkhole opened in Polk County on Saturday morning, according to Polk County Fire Rescue. Officials say the sinkhole does not pose a threat to the street, but are continuing to monitor the hole. The sinkhole is located on Royal Crest Drive in Highland City. (fox13news.com, facebook.com)
Kidney donation recipient and shop owner planning tattoo and art expo in St. Pete: The owner of Tampa Bay’s Stigma Ink tattoo shop, Chino Gonzalez, is doing well after receiving a kidney donation from his employee’s wife in September 2022. St. Regis Longboat Key Resort in Sarasota-area named a top upcoming luxury destination: The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort, an upcoming 166 room hotel, is opening this year and has been named in Robb Report's "50 Most Hotly Anticipated Luxury Hotel Openings in 2024." The resort will feature plenty of dining options including the CW Prime Steakhouse. It is a re-development of the former Colony Beach & Tennis Resort. Anti-abortion activists rally in St. Pete against abortion rights for women: Hundreds of anti-abortion activists marched on Saturday in St. Petersburg as part of "March for Life.” Protesters marched from Pioneer Park to St. Pete City Hall. Pro-choice activists are working to get enough signatures to enshrine abortion into Florida’s constitution this November and protests supporting abortion rights have also occurred recently around the state.
