Veterans Treatment Court celebrates decade helping veterans get a second chance: The Veterans Treatment Court is celebrating 10 years in Hillsborough County. The court helps veterans suffering with the trauma from war with help including minor legal issues, substance abuse, and mental health and works to give veterans a second chance in our society. The court’s mentorship program has graduated more than 1,000 veterans. Veterans Day is Saturday, Nov. 11. (fox13news.com)
Woman killed on CSX train tracks in Seffner: An investigation is underway by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) with CSX after a woman was struck and killed by a train while sitting on train tracks in Seffner on Thursday, according to authorities. The incident happened in the intersection of South Parsons Avenue, south of West Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard. HCSO Sheriff Chad Chronister lamented the tragic death. No foul play is suspected at this time. Florida Black Restaurant Week now underway: Florida Black Restaurant Week starts today, Nov. 10, through Sunday, Nov. 19. Dozens of restaurants are participating include 7th & Grove, Isaac's World Famous Burgers, Steaming Pots West Africa Cuisine, Rose Bar Tampa and more. USF men’s basketball enjoys 44-point opener win: University of South Florida’s men's basketball team began the Amir Abdur-Rahim era on Thursday against South Carolina State inside the Yuengling Center in Tampa with a promising start. The Bulls enjoyed a 96-52 victory in the season opener. Amir Abdur-Rahim became the seventh coach in USF history to win his debut game. (gousfbulls.com)
TPA gains Cleveland route on United: United Airlines announced this week that the airline will revive nonstop service between Tampa and Cleveland, Ohio. The airline is expanding travel to Florida by 20 percent as it seeks to connect Florida and other cities around the country. No start date is available as of Thursday evening. (wfla.com)
