Hedman celebrates 1,000th NHL game with Bolts victory: Victor Hedman celebrated his 1,000 NHL game on Monday night against the Dallas Stars at Amalie Arena. The game turned into a win for Bolts in a 4-0 victory. Hedman was selected for the Lightning at the 2009 Draft in Montreal and celebrated with several of his teammates at the game. Hedman is the first defenseman in team history to reach the milestone. (nhl.com)
Krampus celebration tonight at The Independent in Seminole Heights: The Seminole Heights Independent Bar & Cafe will host a Krampus celebration today, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. The Independent is located at 5016 N Florida Ave. The event will include a holiday gift market, tarot readings, harp music, and of course, plenty of libations. Shark fishing penalties increase in Pinellas cities: Indian Shores and Redington Shores have increased penalties for those caught shark fishing. Violators will pay $500. Officials are concerned about dead sharks washing up on shore, especially with tourists on the beach. The cities are trying to get ahead of the issue with new laws. (abcactionnews.com)
Annual Highball party returning to St. Pete on Friday night: Creative Loafing is bringing back their annual Highball party on Friday, Dec. 8 at Nova 535 in St. Petersburg at 535 Dr. M.L.K. Jr. St. N. Tickets are still available online. Proceeds will benefit Current Initiatives of Tampa Bay, which works to bring hope to communities. Event is for ages 21+ and older only. (highballtampabay.com)
Yard House now open in Water Street Tampa: Yard House opened on Sunday, Dec. 3 in Water Street Tampa right across the street from Amalie Arena at 450 Channelside Dr. The restaurant has a ton of seating both inside and outside and was packed to capacity on Sunday with a 2 hour wait (I recommend putting yourself on the list online and also the bar outside is first-come, first-serve). The restaurant will take a few weeks to get the kinks out, but the food ia delicious. It is sure to be a popular for sports fans in Tampa Bay. I enjoyed a delicious whiskey burger and parmesan fries on my visit. (thatssotampa.com)
