Tampa Bay beaches make top list by Tripadvisor: Siesta Beach and Clearwater Beach have been named on a list of top beaches in the U.S.A. by Tripadvisor, specifically the “Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches.” Siesta Beach came in at no. 2 and Clearwater Beach at no. 12. For no. 12 Clearwater Beach they shared it is a “family-friendly beach with powdery, white sand, blue waters, and spectacular sunsets.” (tripadvisor.com)
Running of the Bulls 5K race generates thousands for Bloomingdale High School: The seventh annual Running of the Bulls 5K raised over $15,000 for Bloomingdale High School and its band program. The 5K is also awarding scholarships for two high school students this year. Local title sponsors include Acropolis Greek Taverna in Riverview, The Jeep Depot, Hungry Howie’s and Reed & Reed. Pinellas County approves changes to John’s Pass Village despite resident concerns: Pinellas County leaders have approved major changes to John's Pass Village for density after a public fight. Commissioners voted 6-1 for the resolution. Residents are concerned developers will change the area into a resort area and remove the local charm there, but appear to have lost the fight to stop it.
