More affordable housing coming to West Tampa: Rome Yard is a new development coming to Tampa with over 200 affordable housing units. 80 percent of the units must live below 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI), with the remaining 20 percent designated for workforce housing. The project is being led by City of Tampa and Tampa Housing Authority. (thatsotampa.com)
Mexican food truck opens new restaurant: Esther's Tacos has opened in Tampa at 2115 Hillsborough Ave. The concept started off as a food truck nearly over a decade ago and is now a brick-and-mortar. The menu includes Bistec Mexicana, Fajita Mix, Chimichanga, Chips and Salsa, and more. (cltampa.com)
Former Miss Florida and Miss America joins local beauty academy as brand ambassador: Ericka Dunlap has joined Altruistic Beauty Academy of Clearwater as a brand ambassador. Dunlap has the recognition of being the first African American to be crowned Miss Florida and later Miss America. The partnership should pioneer more diversity and growth for Altruistic. (patch.com)
TGH President and CEO appointed to new healthcare council: Tampa General Hospital (TGH) President and CEO John Couris has been appointed to the Florida Healthcare Innovation Council. The council will focus on Florida’s need for more healthcare solutions. Goals include improving patient outcomes, reducing E.R. visits, and more. (floridapolitics.com)
Lightning veteran returns to home team after trade: Ryan McDonagh is coming back to the Tampa Bay Lightning after a trade made on Tuesday. McDonagh helped the Bolts win the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021. The Bolts hope he can help bring the magic back to Tampa Bay. (abcactionnews.com)
